Here are our most frequently asked questions. If you are unable to find an answer to your question, please do not hesitate to give us a call.
Treatment Suitability
Treatment is effective for persistent (long-term) musculoskeletal pain conditions. This includes jaw pain, headaches, frozen shoulder, and lower back pain. We also work with complex pain conditions including Fibromyalgia. For more details see What We Treat. If you have any doubt at all, or wish to discuss suitability of treatment, please call us or schedule a free, 15 minute, Discovery Video Call.
Treatment is often effective for a wide range of persistent (long-term) musculoskeletal pain conditions. If you have any doubt at all, or wish to discuss suitability of treatment, please call us or schedule a free, 15 minute, Discovery Video Call.
Whilst we cannot know for sure that treatment will be effective for you, our assessment and treatment at our first session will give us a good indication. Don’t forget you can always explore the suitability of treatment by calling us or scheduling a free, 15 minute, Discovery Video Call.
Good outcomes to expect include:
- Understanding the key reasons why your musculoskeletal pain is likely persisting.
- Have a long-term working plan to stay on top of your persistent pain.
- A significant reduction in pain and/or improvement in range of motion.
- Learn of other therapies and techniques to add to your pain management toolkit.
Absolutely. Please call us or schedule a free 15 minute Discovery Video Call.
We currently do not treat children or adolescents under the age of 18.
If you are an existing client and your pregnancy is beyond the first trimester, please give us a call to discuss how we may create a pleasant, comfortable and safe treatment.
If you are not an existing client, we are happy to recommend a local practitioner (N16) who is well qualified in both pregnancy massage and advanced clinical massage.
Our treatments incorporate a range of techniques including myofascial release, hot stone therapy, trigger point therapy, acupressure, stretches and self-care.
If the technique isn’t mentioned on our about page, then we do not specifically use the technique.
However, the techniques we incorporate can create similar outcomes to other techniques. For example myofascial release has a similar effect to cupping.
Acupressure point work has a similar effect to acupuncture.

Your First Visit
You do not need to bring anything to the session. For some treatments we can work through clothing or just expose the area we are working on. Otherwise you will be draped during the session, so underwear is fine. You could also wear or bring your gym wear. For issues relating to the shoulders, including jaw pain and headaches, it is helpful to be able to expose the shoulders, so better not to wear a crossover or broad strapped bra/sports bra.
Please be sure to complete the short intake form ahead of time. You will find a link in your confirmation email. Otherwise, just think about what outcomes you would like us to achieve together. For some, this may simply be “get out of pain.” However, it is also good to think about future pain management, should the pain return. So “understanding more about cause and prevention,” or “leave with a workable self-care plan” would be great outcomes.
The quality of our first session will play a big part in the success of our treatment.
Together we will review your intake form. Our consultation will include assessment, and goal setting.
We will discuss what the treatment will consist of. I will seek your agreement to this ahead of our treatment.
After the treatment we will likely have another assessment. We will discuss any changes we have observed. We will then agree on appropriate self-care exercises.
We will also then have a better idea of how many sessions we will likely require to meet our goals.
Whilst our first session will give us a better idea of the number of sessions we will need, most persistent musculoskeletal issues are resolved within six sessions.
For complex pain conditions including Fibromyalgia, complete resolution of pain within six sessions will not be realistic.
That is not to say we can’t make a significant difference to your pain experience and/or other symptoms.
I recommend booking a free Discovery Video Call to explore potential outcomes.
We will agree and review goals on a regular basis.

Private Insurance Companies

Your insurance company will advise if this meets their requirement.
We are not able to directly invoice insurance companies; however, we are able to provide you with a receipt accompanied by treatment notes.
Health, Hygiene, Allergies and Sensitivities
As you are investing both time and money in the treatment, we highly recommend making it as comfortable and pleasant an experience as possible. So please aim to arrive fresh and ready for your treatment.
It is a small space with several treatments taking place every day. To ensure good hygiene we will be cleaning the room between sessions, laying fresh linens, and sanitising hands. If you are able to sanitise your hands on arrival we would greatly appreciate it.
Yes. Fresh, clean linens are prepared for every visit.
Please inform us of any allergies or sensitivities ahead of your appointment. You can do this on the intake form.
During our treatments we will use a neutral massage cream (untested on animals) which contains aloe vera, vitamin E, and camomile. The product does not contain nuts or derivatives.

For issues relating to the shoulders, including jaw pain and headaches, it is helpful to be able to expose the shoulders, so better not to wear a crossover or broad strapped bra/sports bra.
It is essential you feel comfortable with your dignity protected throughout your treatment.
At our first session we will agree what areas we will be working on and how best to prepare.
If it is necessary for you to undress, I will leave the room for you to get ready. You will get fully under the drapes before calling me to enter the room.
You will be draped throughout the session apart from the area we are working on. At no time should you feel uncomfortable. Your private areas will never be exposed.
If I feel it is necessary to work close to sensitive areas, such as the upper chest muscles for shoulder or back pain, I will explain any clinical reasoning for this and seek your permission to do so.
Your comfort is really important to me. As we now get some extreme temperatures, the treatment room is now equipped with a climate control system.
That way it is a nice steady temperature throughout the year, regardless of the outside temperature.
