Frequently Asked Questions
Clear answers to common questions about appointments, payments, online and in-person sessions.
Booking and Appointments
Which appointment should I book?
If you’re unsure where to start, a Telephone Discovery Call is a good way to talk things through without commitment. Many people find this helpful when dealing with persistent or complex pain.
If you’re booking your first appointment, in-person sessions are available in London and are suitable for a wide range of musculoskeletal pain concerns.
Online consultations are offered specifically for jaw pain and TMJ / TMD, where the focus is on understanding what’s driving symptoms and supporting practical self-care.
For follow-up sessions, we’ll usually continue in the same format, depending on what’s most appropriate.
How do I make an appointment?
All appointments are booked online via the secure booking system.
You can access the booking page using any Book an Appointment button on the website, or via the Treatments & Pricing page.
Can I just turn up for an appointment?
No. Sessions are by appointment only and must be booked in advance.
Do you take same-day appointments?
Sometimes. If a same-day appointment is available, it will appear in the online booking system.
If no appointments are showing, there are no same-day slots available. You can add your name to the waitlist and you’ll be notified if a cancellation becomes available.
Will you send me a booking confirmation and reminder?
Yes. You’ll receive a booking confirmation email shortly after booking.
Email reminders are sent 2 days and 24 hours before your appointment.
If you’ve opted in to SMS reminders, you’ll also receive a text reminder 2 hours before your appointment.
Payment & Pricing
What is the price of each session?
Current pricing for all appointments is listed on the Treatments & Pricing page.
Prices vary depending on the type of appointment and whether the session is in person or online.
How and when do I pay for an appointment?
For first appointments, full payment is taken by card at the time of booking.
For return appointments, payment is taken by card at the time of your session. You can choose to store your card securely for future payments, or pay by card each time.
Which cards do you accept?
Most major debit and credit cards are accepted.
How do you protect my card details?
Card payments are processed securely by the booking and payment system.
Card details are not stored on this website.
Changes and Cancellations
Can I cancel or change my appointment?
Appointments can be changed or cancelled with at least 24 hours’ notice.
Changes can be made via the secure online booking system.
Cancellations or changes made with less than 24 hours’ notice, or non-attendance, may be charged in line with the cancellation policy. Full details are available in the Terms and Conditions.
How do I make changes to my booking?
You can manage your booking by signing in to the secure online booking system using the link in your confirmation email.
Online Appointments
Why would I choose an online appointment?
Online appointments are offered specifically for jaw pain and TMJ / TMD.
They’re a good option if attending in person isn’t practical, or if you’d prefer a format that focuses on understanding your symptoms and supporting self-care between sessions.
Online sessions focus on exploring what’s been going on for you, identifying factors that may be contributing to jaw pain or tension, and developing practical self-care approaches you can work with at home.
What happens during an online appointment?
We’ll take time to talk through what’s been going on for you, including your symptoms, concerns, and anything you feel may be contributing.
Where appropriate, we may explore simple movement, positioning, or self-care strategies together, and agree practical next steps you can work on between sessions.
What do I need for an online appointment?
You’ll need a reliable internet connection and a device with a camera and microphone.
It can be helpful to have a quiet, comfortable space where you can talk freely and move a little if needed. No special equipment is required.
I can’t find the link to my online appointment — what should I do?
The link to your online appointment is sent by email around 30 minutes before your session starts.
If your appointment is due to begin soon, please check your inbox (and junk or spam folder) shortly before the scheduled time.
Can I switch between online and in-person appointments?
Yes. Some people choose to combine online and in-person appointments, depending on what feels most appropriate at the time.
If you’d like to switch the format of an appointment, this is usually fine as long as changes are made with at least 24 hours’ notice.
In-Person Appointments
What happens during the first in-person session?
The first session is focused on understanding what’s been going on for you and what outcome you’re looking to achieve.
We’ll review your symptoms and explore any relevant factors that may be contributing. This will usually include assessing the area and any movements that provoke your symptoms. From there, we’ll agree together how best to approach treatment.
After the session, we’ll reflect on what we’ve noticed and discuss any self-care or next steps that may be helpful going forward.
How do you protect my dignity and privacy during in-person sessions?
It’s important that you feel comfortable and that your dignity is respected throughout your treatment.
At each session, we’ll agree together which areas we’ll be working on and how best to prepare.
If it’s appropriate for you to undress, I’ll leave the room while you get ready and ensure you’re fully covered with drapes before returning.
You’ll remain draped throughout the session, with only the area being worked on exposed. Your private areas will never be exposed.
If working closer to more sensitive areas is clinically relevant, such as the upper chest for shoulder or back pain, I’ll explain why and check that you’re comfortable before proceeding.
Throughout the session, you should always expect to feel respected and in control.
What do I wear during the treatment?
After our initial consultation, I may suggest what level to undress to. For some treatments, we can work through clothing or simply expose the area being worked on. Otherwise, you’ll be draped during the session, so underwear is fine. You may also prefer to wear or bring gym or comfortable clothing.
For issues involving the shoulders — including jaw pain and headaches — it can be helpful to expose the shoulders. In these cases, it’s best to avoid crossover or broad-strapped bras or sports bras.
Ultimately, you should undress in whatever way feels most comfortable for you, knowing that you’ll be draped throughout the session and that your dignity will be respected.
Is the treatment room accessible?
The treatment room is accessed via a single flight of stairs with a handrail.
If you have any concerns about access or mobility, I recommend getting in touch before booking so we can discuss whether an in-person or online appointment would be the best option for you.
Do I need to bring anything or prepare in advance?
There’s no special preparation required before an in-person appointment.
Please aim to arrive no more than five minutes before your session start time. There’s no waiting area, and I may still be with another client or preparing for your session.
If you’re travelling across London, it’s worth allowing extra time for traffic or transport delays so you can arrive feeling settled rather than rushed.
Location, Travel and Parking
Where are you located?
In-person appointments take place in a treatment room located within my private residence in North London (N13).
Full address details and directions are provided in your booking confirmation email.
How do I get there?
Directions are included in your booking confirmation email.
If you’re using a satnav, please make sure you use the N13 postcode, as there are several streets with similar names in the area.
Is there parking available?
Parking charges apply between 11am and 1pm, Monday to Friday.
If your appointment falls within these times, please let me know in advance if you require a visitor parking permit. A small charge applies.
Outside of these hours, parking is generally unrestricted.
Private Insurance
Do you work with private insurance companies?
I am not registered with private insurance companies.
Some insurers may still reimburse treatment, depending on your policy, so it’s best to check directly with your provider.
Can I claim the cost of treatment from my insurer?
I’m unable to invoice insurance companies directly.
However, I can provide a receipt and treatment details for you to submit to your insurer if required.
Not sure where to start?
If your symptoms don’t fit neatly into one category, this page explains the main pain issues I work with and may help you decide where to begin.
